A workshop with Professor Liz Falconer and Dr Mari Carmen Gil Ortega
15th June 2016 at 20:00 CEST (7pm UK time) on Kitely (OpenSim).
This workshop will describe and demonstrate work in progress on the reconstruction of an ancient landscape in a virtual environment as a means to facilitate collaborative learning. The virtual landscape, a reconstruction of the Neolithic monument of Avebury Henge in Wiltshire, UK, circa 2,300 BCE, will be part of a project that involves students in Heritage, History and Curation at UWE in the autumn term of 2016.
Important note: The reconstruction is on the Kitely platform (OpenSim) and is best viewed with the Firestorm viewer. To create a free Kitely account, go to http://kitely.com and create an account, and to download the Firestorm viewer go to http://www.firestormviewer.org/downloads/ . The address for the Avebury simulation is hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/EIC%20at%20UWE/337/148/25 or attendees can just go to the Kitely world and search for 'EIC at UWE' and that will take them there.
15th March 2016 at 8pm CET, 7pm UK time.
The next activity will take place on the Erasmus Campus of Istanbul University in Second Life http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Istanbul%20Uni%20Erasmus/130/122/23 guided by İrfan Şimşek and Tuncer Can,
